Karen Sullivan

Karen came to yoga at a time of great change in her life. Moving away from the only home she'd known - Houston, she moved to DC in 2009 and took her first yoga class there. She instantly fell in love with the practice for its physical challenge. Being a bicyclist, runner, rock climber, and pretty much anything that gets her moving, she continued practicing as cross-training. With each practice, however, she found herself leaving her mat emotionally changed - stronger as an individual. It was while she was volunteering for Ronald McDonald House that she was inspired to want to share the practice that had taught her how to cope with emotional and mental tumult. She signed-up for Yoga District's 200-hour teacher training program with the hope of offering space to any person. Since 2013, she has grown under the tutelage of many great teachers on and off the mat and continues to evolve by learning from her students and her own play. There are no "Dad jokes" off limits in her classes, and she enjoys bringing a smile to discomfort.
